Parent & Caregiver Classes
Experienced parenting professionals offer a wide variety of perspectives, strategies and approaches to foster each parenting style.
Parenting classes are offered on a sliding scale, from $15 - $45, unless otherwise noted and depending on income. Please inquire about our sliding scale at the time of registration.
Our Parenting Class Program will begin again in the Fall. If you have a group interested in a specific parenting class, please contact Parent Education Programs Manager, Rachel Kadner, anytime to schedule a private event.
NOTE: Please contact Parent Education Programs Manager, Susana Telles if you are interested in a future class. parented@habitot.org
Child Care
Child care is available for 2 years and up with pre-registration for parenting and caregiver workshops. For more information, inquire at the time of registration.
Parent Support Groups
Two FREE, drop-in support groups -- Mamas & Papas (for LGBTQ families) and Caregiver Cafés (for nonparental caregivers) -- will be offered on a monthly basis in 2010, thanks to a grant from First 5 Alameda County with support from Peet's Coffee & Tea and Casa Latina in Berkeley. Supervised activities for young children 2-4 years old are held concurrently. Each month's meeting date and time is posted in the sidebar of the current issue of Tot-Mail
Monthly meeting space is also available on Monday mornings for Parent-to-Parent Cafés so that other parent support groups can meet -- multiracial families, parents of twins, single parents and others on request -- for a nominal fee. For an additional charge, trained parent education facilitators can be contracted through Habitot to lead these groups and discussions on topics of need/interest. Our Parenting Education staff can help you design a support program suited to your needs.
To receive email updates about Mamas & Papas, Caregiver Cafés, or to inquire about starting a new Parent-to-Parent Café, please contact Rachel at 510-647-1111 x16 or parented@habitot.org. Also visit Parenting Support Groups and see our eNewsletter.
