Parent & Caregiver Support Groups
FREE
Drop-In Parent Support Groups
Two FREE, drop-in support groups -- Mamas & Papas (for LGBTQ families) and Caregiver Cafés (for nonparental caregivers) -- will be offered on a monthly basis in 2010, thanks to a grant from First 5 Alameda County with support from Peet's Coffee & Tea and Casa Latina in Berkeley. Supervised activities for young children 2-4 years old are held concurrently.
Monthly meeting space is also available on Monday mornings for Parent-to-Parent Cafés so that other parent support groups can meet -- multiracial families, parents of twins, single parents and others on request -- for a nominal fee. For an additional charge, trained parent education facilitators can be contracted through Habitot to lead these groups and discussions on topics of need/interest. Our Parenting Education staff can help you design a support program suited to your needs.
To receive email updates about Mamas & Papas, Caregiver Cafés, or to inquire about starting a new Parent-to-Parent Café, please contact us at 510-647-1111 x 16 or parented@habitot.org
