Parent & Caregiver

Support Groups &

Parenting Workshops

LGBTQ Families
Wednesday, February 1
5:30 - 7:30 am
Caregiver Café Tuesday, February 21
10:00 - 11:00 am

The Parent-to-Parent Cafes are made possible by support from Peets and SemiFreddi.

Mamas & Papas (for LGBTQ families)

Join our free, drop-in support group for gay and lesbian families and their 0-5 year old children, presented in partnership with Our Family. While parents engage in lively and supportive conversations facilitated by Habitot and Our Family staff in our classroom annex (Habitot, Too), children play (with supervision) in the Museum.

Caregiver Cafés

Share some coffee and pastries, connect with other caregiving professionals and talk about the fun and challenges you face in raising others' children. Habitot staff will occupy your charges at nearby tables with art activities and puzzles while you take part in a facilitated group discussion. We hope to bring in outside experts to share their expertise on topics of interest. Free museum admission for all attendees following Caregiver Cafe let's you put new ideas into action.

Year-round Parent Support Group Program

Habitot's classroom annex is again available for on-going parent support group gatherings, meeting on weekday mornings, afternoons or evenings, from fall through spring, for a nominal fee.

Grants and other donations are being sought to continue our popular Caregiver Cafe's, teen parent groups, special times for special families, gatherings for homeless families and other vulnerable families. (Habitot's First 5 Alameda County grant was not re-funded this cycle).

For an additional charge, experienced parent educators can be contracted through Habitot's speakers bureau to lead discussions on topics of need/interest. Our Parenting Education staff can help you design a support program suited to your needs.
