2009 Preschool Teacher Training Institute
Habitot is partnering with Project Joy to bring their renowned Playmaker Training program to preschool teachers in the Bay Area. This revolutionary program has brought the power of play to heal and strengthen the lives of children whose lives have been deeply impacted by fear and trauma. Their work has changed lives in Boston and in the Hurricane Katrina recovery zone and has been featured on national television.
Habitot is able to offer full scholarships to 30 highly motivated teachers who are interested in attending the two-day training on June 27-28, 2009 at the Doubletree Hotel in the beautiful Berkeley Marina. Lodging and meals are included. Selected preschools will send 2-5 teachers to learn how to integrate Project Joy’s unique program of robust physical play, storytelling, yoga and movement into their regular curriculum. Participating preschools will receive a substantial kit of hands-on materials delivered to your school after the training, and follow up support by trained Habitot staff. A competitive application process for Head Starts, CDC's and other low-income preschools are welcome to apply to Susana at parented@habitot.org. Deadline for application, May 5, 2009.

Habitot's Art Reach Program extends our knowledge about teaching
art to young children into local preschools and community
centers. We offer off-site children's classes, on and off-site
teachers' and directors' training workshops, plus contract
presentations, artist-in-residence programs, and ceramic workshops
for preschool field trips.

Teacher's Certified Training
Habitot offers professional development training programs
for preschool teachers, childcare providers, and anyone who
would like to further their knowledge and skills in working
with young children.
Teacher Educational And Cumulative Hours Program
Our T.E.A.C.H. Reach Program offers skills, experience, new
ideas and hands-on workshops to educators. This exciting series
of professional development classes especially for preschool
teachers and childcare providers will give you important skills
and new ideas you can use tomorrow. Attendees will experience
interactive, hands-on workshops in storytelling, providing
for multi-lingual classes, imaginative play and new ideas
in classroom activities and classroom management. All classes
qualify for the Californian Child Development Permit Matrix
Program and the Prop. 10 initiative.
