On-going Recruitment
Habitot Children's Museum maintains active recruitment of
potential new board members. The museum seeks individuals
who are passionate about the future of children, education,
parenting, and community building, and who believe strongly
in Habitot's mission.
Well connected individuals are needed who can help the Museum
build it's internal capacity to support growth and stability.

Job Description
Authority and Responsibility:
The Board of Directors is the governing authority of Habitot
Children's Museum, a nonprofit organization. As a member of
the Board, a Director acts in a position of trust for the
community and is responsible for the effective governance
of the organization.
Qualifications and Skills:
Knowledge and skills in one or more areas of Board
governance: cultural facilities, property development, legal,
finance, marketing/promotion, fundraising.
Term:
Directors are elected by the board at a quarterly meeting.
Directors serve for a two-year term with no term limits.
Requirements
- Commitment to the mission and work of the organization.
- Knowledge and skills in one or more areas of Board governance:
cultural facilities, property development, legal, finance,
marketing/promotion, fundraising.
- Willingness to serve on at least one committee and actively
participate; attendance at Board meetings four times per
year, one annual meeting, and periodic committee conference
calls or meetings.
- An estimated time commitment of ten hours per month,
(includes Board preparation, meeting and committee meeting
time).
- Stay informed on the programs and services provided by
Habitot Children's Museum and publicly support them. Prepare
for and participate in the discussions and the deliberations
of the Board.
- Lead by example with Habitot's fundraising efforts. Make
an annual monetary contribution that is your most significant
charitable giving while on the board.
Major Duties
- Governing Habitot Children's Museum in accordance with
the museum's bylaws.
- Promote Habitot's mission and help grow audience and
membership through community networking.
- Commit to boosting attendance of yearly fundraising luncheon
and other special events.
- Cultivate and/or initiate relationships with prospective
donors and supporters.
- Establish overall strategic direction, long and short
term goals, annual objectives and priorities for the Museum.
- Demonstrate leadership and commitment to organizational
values.
- Be aware of and disclose any personal and/or professional
conflict of interest.
