Scoop up New Year’s confetti into glorious collage artworks! Make a confetti tornado in the Wind Tunnel and join in New Year’s dance parties everyday starting at 10:30 am. |

Wednesday, January 7 • 9:30 am - 12:30 pm
Harvest apples, collect eggs in the big red barn, ride a horse and fish in the pond in our new Back to the Farm exhibit! The exhibit, which will open Wednesday, January 7th will replace the Rocketship and Mission Control exhibit in our main stage area. Monday, January 19 • 9:30 am - 4:30 pm
Extended hours and special activities to honor Dr. King’s work on behalf of peace and equality. Kids and families can interact with our Hope & Peace Wall, highlighting Dr. King’s accomplishments, as well as children’s framed art about their hopes and dreams. In the Art Studio, children can make Peace Medals to present to family and friends who have shown great patience and thoughtfulness, or have been helpful in resolving a conflict. Stories will be read about Martin Luther King, Jr., and about being respectful and loving toward all people at 11:00am, 1:00pm and 3:00pm in the Multicultural Reading Tent.
Habitot will be open 9:30am – 4:30pm today. |

Sunday, January 25 • 9:30 am- 4:30 pm
Celebrate the Year of the Ox at Habitot’s annual Lunar New Year event. The celebration is the longest and most important celebration in the Chinese calendar. Habitot’s event will feature a concert of traditional Chinese music led by Wa Mandy Cheung from 11:00 – 11:45 and dragon parades for children ages 0-6 at 12:00pm, 1:30pm, and 2:30pm. In the Art Studio, children will enjoy creating New Years’ cards with bamboo calligraphy brushes and colorful inks and bright paper lanterns. Chinese storytelling at 10:00am, 12:30pm and 3:00pm. |

Friday, January 30 • 9:30 am - 4:30 pm
Habitot will be transformed to a winter wonderland - at come play in the (pretend) snow! Build igloos out of snow blocks, experiment on ice using salts and watercolors, and best of all, make “real” snow! Add to a glittery, shimmery winter collage using recycled wrapping paper, confetti and other fun materials. There will be a blizzard raging in the Wind Tunnel in all day! Enjoy interactive storytelling about snow and wintertime in the Multicultural Reading Tent at 11:00am, 12:30pm and 3:00pm. |

Saturday, January 31 • 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Meet Dr. Stevanne Auerbach, aka Dr. Toy, whose book “Smart Play” and her annual ratings of the best children’s toys help parents and other care providers chose toys with lasting value and educational content and make the most of their children's playthings.
There will be a discussion on toy selection and safety, a toy swap, and book signing. Please register to attend by calling Liz at 510-647-1111 x 17 . There is no fee to attend; drop-ins on a space available basis. |
