Habitot is a Blue Star Museum - Free Summer Admission for Military Families Blue Star Museums logo

From Memorial Day to Labor Day 2011, Habitot will offer free admission to all active duty military personnel and their families as part of the Blue Star Museums initiative, a partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families, and more than 1,300 museums across America.

Over 300,000 military family members visited Blue Star Museums in 2010: Habitot is proud to be part of this program focusing on the approximately 1 million children who have had at least one parent deployed, offering families a chance to visit museums this summer when many will have limited resources and limited time to be together. The complete list of participating museums is available at www.arts.gov/bluestarmuseums

Developing Our Board of Directors - Habitot's Most Important Volunteers board

Habitot is delighted to welcome Greg Schultz, PhD. to Habitot's Board of Directors. Our board is now composed of nine members and one emeritus member. Mr. Schultz is Director of Education for the Astronomical Society of the Pacific and a member of Habitot. He and his wife love our Parents' Night Out events!

This spring, the Board and staff participated in two weekend strategic planning retreats for Habitot, facilitated by expert facilitators, Elizabeth Carty of Carty Consulting and Anita McClendon. Participants found visioning what Habitot could be, identifying the obstacles in our way, and strategizing how to get there simultaneously exhilarating and exhausting, but in a good way. The Board is currently working on an action plan - stay tuned for more details for how you and other members of the community can be involved.
