Fridays • 12:00 am - 1:00 pm
Veteran storyteller Paul Withrow has been reading stories to little ones at Habitot for over two years. A soft-spoken parent of two grown-up children, Paul makes each child feel safe and eager to hear read-aloud stories and look at exquisitely chosen picture books. A ‘gentle giant’ who’s great at engaging children in conversations. Reading aloud and talking with grown-ups helps build early literacy skills! |

Thursdays • 10:30 am & 10:50 am
Musician and singer Tyrah West leads new and familiar songs and fingerplays for little ones in our Multicultural Reading Tent in two back-to-back drop-in sessions. For the next month, Tyra will be dressed as a farmer and will bring her guitar to sing farm favorites like Old McDonald and Bye Bye Black Sheep to complement our new Back to the Farm exhibit. Using guitar and keyboard, Tyra helps children listen to the sounds of different instruments and their own voices. Sing-alongs help build early literacy skills!
Tyra is an Alabama native who grew up singing background vocals at her uncle's recording studio. She has a degree in Interior Design and is currently a buyer at Macy's. When not at Habitot, she plays soccer on a co-ed league and bakes as many cookies as possible for her little boy because she is “a total mad scientist in the kitchen.” |

Wednesdays • 10:45 am - 11:15 am
Habitot interns will crank up the juke box with hoe-down, classic rock, punk, country swing, old-time bluegrass, world beat and disco music to help get the wiggles out. Bring your dancing shoes and favorite dance CD’s to share. |

Tuesdays • 10:30 am & 11:15 am
Join Susan for some fun, interactive storytelling in our "Back to the Farm" exhibit where children (and parents) can suggest characters, themes and story ideas that open up children's imaginations. Her playful engagement incorporates sensory objects, simple costumes and props and demonstrates an excellent model for how parents can communicate with their children.
Susan L. Snyder has been improvising professionally since 1998. She has taught, trained and performed improv throughout the Bay Area.
