First 5 funding, on which Habitot relies for 10% of its operating budget, is once again under threat. Although California voters soundly defeated a previous attempt to divert the funds (Prop 1D in 2009), sending a clear message that dedicated early childhood funding is a priority, State Senator Cox has just introduced a bill to channel all First 5 revenues into the state General Fund for Healthy Families and Medi-Cal.

We need to raise approximately $4,500 to restore and bring Habitot's popular Rocketship and Mission Control into the Museum this Spring. A half-day, drop-off activity camp for 3 to 5 year olds exploring Spring themes like baby animals, new buds, sunshine, rain and puddles through fun, hands-on art, math and science activities.
