Winter Spring Classes

Habitot’s children’s and parent-child classes are offered on a drop-in, space available basis! Pay $15 per class or purchase a 10-class pass for $130 and attend any ten classes of your choosing during a an eight-week session. Free admission to the museum on the day of your class is included with purchase. A minimum number of passes must be sold each session for the classes to run so please support our class series by purchasing early!

Habitot’s classes for ages 2 to 3 years offer innovative experiences and a variety of hands-on, open-ended sensory activities that lead to discovery and growth. Talented, caring and experienced educators create a safe, fun and engaging environment that will foster your child’s self-confidence, curiosity and creativity. Most importantly, in Habitot’s classes, children learn social skills that help them make friends and successfully interact with other children. Parent or caregiver participation required for 2 year olds; optional for 3 and 4 year olds.

Breakfast Club
Tuesdays, 10:45 am - 11:35 am


Rise and shine! In this class, children ages 2 to 3 years will learn how to make nutritious and easy recipes for breakfast, the most important meal of the day. Young cooks will learn to crack eggs, mix ingredients into batter, and cook up savory creations like omelets and frittatas, pancakes, waffles, granolas and much more. Every child will receive a chef’s hat and take home copies of each week’s recipe.

Best of Summer Camp ~ in the Winter!
Wednesdays, 9:30 am - 10:30 am


Every week, 3-4 year olds will enjoy theme-activities inspired by Habitot's popular summer camp series. One week, we might be building a space station, investigating Mars Mud and learning about the solar system, the next week we might be back on the farm, churning butter, square dancing and dyeing wool. Tot Art with a Twist!
Wednesdays, 10:45 am - 11:35 am


Habitot’s popular Tot Art class takes a new shape this season with the addition of pre-math literacy activities! In this hands-on, open-ended, sensory class, children ages 2 to 3 years will explore a variety of art materials and media—including clay, collage, recycled objects and painting—as they learn to count, sort, understand volume and identify patterns and shapes.

Move and Groove!
Fridays, 10:45 am - 11:35 am


Toddlers ages 2 to 3 years will sing, wiggle, twist, and whirl to a variety of tunes. Through music, movement and instrument play, toddlers will explore the space around them and discover new ways to move and control their bodies. Toddlers will also learn the basic concepts of melody, rhythm, beat, tempo, rhyme and improvisation.

Viva el Espanol Classes

In addition, we have contracted with Viva el Español to offer Spanish music classes for toddlers and their adult/amigo. These classes are separate from the 10-class pass series. Each session of the Spanish class is seven weeks long and the cost is $109 for non-members and $98 for members. A trial class without registration is available. Free admission to the museum on each class day is included with enrollment in the Viva el Español Parent & Me Música class.

Parent & Me Música Class with Viva el Español
Mondays, 10:30 am - 11:20 am


Engaging interactive Spanish class led by experienced bilingual teacher. Children learn while singing songs and playing games. Toddlers will move to a Latin beat, sing along in Spanish and play drums, bells, maracas, rainmakers, rhythm sticks and more! Program uses a full immersion approach. Class limited to 10 parent/child pairs per class.

Splash! Explore seashells, starfish, whales and other creatures that live under the sea. Create sand pictures, decorate fish, and make sandwiches for a pretend picnic at the beach. Every child will take home a water toy.

Mayan Mysteries A Spanish Immersion Camp
Take $20 off if you sign up for this class by May 1
June 29 - July 3


This camp will expose your child to the Spanish language through play activities, cooking, music, art, dance and multicultural games. Explore the 'jungle' and use archaeologist’s tools to uncover some ancient artifacts and build a Mayan temple out of “stone” blocks. Each child will take home an ancient fossil. Previous experience with Spanish not required.

Kid’s Café
July 6 - July 10


Young chefs will plan a menu, make grocery lists, wash produce, set a table, take orders, make their own spice blends, purchase fresh ingredients from the Farmer's Market and cook and eat their own snacks while running the Kid’s Café! Every child will take home a daily recipe along with a chef's hat to decorate.

Cars, Boats, Planes & Trains
July 13 - July 17


Vroom! Vroom! Beep! Beep! Kids will make pretend race cars and freight trains. Explore things that fly and things that float. Learn about cars, boats, planes and trains through art, construction projects, cooking activities and science fun! Every child will take home a friction vehicle.

Eco Kids
July 20 – July 24


Even young children can go green! We’ll build a mini-solar oven, compost with worms, filter water, explore wind power and make recycled paper in this hands-on camp about being a good citizen of the earth. Every child will take home a wind-powered pinwheel.

Space Station
July 27 – July 31


5,4,3,2,1…BLAST OFF! Take a seat in our imaginary rocket ship and tour the planets and outer space. We’ll build a space station, paint a moon landscape, investigate Mars mud and explore gravity. Friendly aliens may visit! Every child will take home a space shuttle.

Back to the Farm
August 3 – August 7


Plant fruit and vegetable seeds, make jam, bake bread, churn butter, square dance, dye wool and taste some home-made ice cream. Take a ride in a wheelbarrow and pretend to be farm animals and farm hands. Every child will take home a bandana.

Cars, Boats, Planes & Trains
August 10 - August 14


Vroom! Vroom! Beep! Beep! Kids will make pretend race cars and freight trains. Explore things that fly and things that float. Learn about cars, boats, planes and trains through art, construction projects, cooking activities and science fun! Every child will take home a friction vehicle.

Become a prince or princess, goblins or troll in this magical fairy tale week. Children will decorate royal crowns and create fairy wings, magic wands and table top castles. Through make-believe play we will create our own fairytales! Every child will take home a jeweled crown.

August 24 - August 28


Get ready to dig, mix and build! Create buildings, roads, and whole cities with construction blocks, diggers, front-loaders and bulldozers! Dress up in construction worker safety clothes and use tools, mix “cement" and make 3D sculptures. We’ll pack our own lunchboxes, too! Every child will take home a toy construction tool.

Tots Around the World
August 17 – August 21


Each day, we'll take a pretend trip to a new country and explore its culture through art, cooking, dance, costumes, music, storytelling and games. We'll make passports and Monday, and 'my, the places you'll go' the rest of the week. Each child will take home his/her stamped passport book.
