Classes & Camps

Spring Break Camp leave
October - December 2009

This fall, Habitot will offer art, cooking and movement classes for 2 to 4 year olds on a drop-in, space available basis, plus separately-enrolled Spanish music classes and free, guided nature walks.

Habitot classes introduce young children to a preschool-like setting and help them learn social skills in a safe, fun and engaging environment. Talented, caring and experienced educators will foster your child’s self-confidence, curiosity and creativity. Parent or caregiver participation required.

Pay $15 per class or purchase a 10-class pass for $130 and attend any ten classes of your choosing during a ten-week session.

Free admission to the museum on the day of your class is included with purchase.

A minimum number of passes must be sold each session for the classes to run so please support our class series by purchasing early!

Tuesdays, 10:45 - 11:45 am
Breakfast Club

Rise and shine! In this class, children will learn how to make nutritious and easy recipes for breakfast, the most important meal of the day. Young cooks will crack eggs, mix ingredients into batter, and cook up savory creations like omelets, pancakes, waffles, granolas and much more. Every child will receive a chef’s hat and a recipe book.

Tot Art with a Twist!
Wednesdays, 9:30 - 10:30 am
Tot Art

Habitot’s popular Tot Art class incorporates early math and science activities! In this hands-on, sensory class, children will explore a variety of art materials and media—including clay, collage, recycled objects and painting—and practice counting, sorting, understanding volume and identifying patterns and shapes.

Move and Groove!
Wednesdays, 10:45 - 11:45 am
Moove and Groove

Toddlers will sing, wiggle, twist, and whirl to a variety of tunes. Through music, movement and instrument play, toddlers will explore the space around them and discover new ways to move and control their bodies. Toddlers will also learn the basic concepts of melody, rhythm, beat, tempo, rhyme and improvisation.

Clay Play
Fridays, 10:45 - 11:45 am
Clay Play

Clay is the perfect medium for children to be creative and build physical skills. Children will learn the basics of working with potter's clay and will make a coil pot, small bowls and plates to take home. All works will be glazed and fired in our kiln and returned to the children. Fee includes all materials.

NATURE WALKS WITH TOTS - FREE! • 1- 4 years old

A Habitot- Hooked on Nature Collaboration
Part of the Let's Play Outside:
Play Days Around the Bay Initiative

Fridays, September 25 & October 23 toddler outdoors
10:30 to 11:30 am

Take your toddler on a walk through UC-Berkeley's meadows, streams and groves accompanied by Wendolyn Bird, Director of Tender Tracks Tales and Trails, an outdoor preschool, and Co-Director of Children, Nature and You.

You'll explore the natural wilds of UC Berkeley's campus listening for the wind in the trees, finding living creatures, linking arms around trees, and watching leaves float downstream. Through experiential learning you will discover many ways to instill a love of nature in your child and incorporate outdoor experiences into your daily life that are so important in early childhood.

Every family receives a set of Nature Circles Cards. Class size is limited. Register in advance for meeting place details for one or both walks.
