The uninhibited and surprisingly contemporary art of preschoolers will be on display throughout downtown Berkeley at various locations as part of Habitot Children's Museum's Spring Art Show. The paintings, drawings, and mixed media collages created by toddlers and preschoolers in Habitot's drop-in Art Studio, classes, and school programs can be seen through May at Starbucks at Oxford and Center Street, the Children's Section of the Berkeley Central Public Library at Kittredge and Shattuck, and at the offices of Berkeley Pediatrics on Walnut Street. All locations are free and wheelchair accessible.
This is the 9th year of the Art Show, which last year was featured in the Addison Street Window Gallery and on the Bay Area Backroads. Habitot's Art Studio engages 45,000 children annually in hands-on art activities that foster creative art exploration and child development.
Habitot Children's Museum is the East Bay's award-winning hands-on discovery museum for young children. Its mission is to nurture and enrich the lives of young children, their families, and the adults who care for them by providing an environment for early childhood learning and exploration, parenting education and community outreach. Habitot ensures its accessibility for all Bay Area families through its Family and Community Partnerships Program that brings more than 10,000 low-income and at-risk children into the museum every year through scholarships, subsidized memberships and free admissions days.
More than 600,000 people have enjoyed the museum's interactive exhibits, art programs and classes since its opening in 1998. Not just a place to entertain young children, Habitot provides resources and support for early childhood learning, parenting success, and community connection. |
