event image

(Berkeley, CA) June 19, 2010 –
Habitot celebrates all kinds of families that create loving homes for children. On Family Pride Day, our Family Coalition will take and print free family portraits from 10:00am-2:00pm in the Museum. Families will decorate frames for their portraits with glitter, ribbons, and stickers in the Art Studio. All day, families can add messages to the "Family" mural (on display in the Museum from June 21-June 26). Families can also enjoy storytelling from books about children in all kinds of loving families in the Reading Tent at 11:30 am and 3:30 pm. This event is free with regular Museum admission.

About Habitot:

Habitot Children's Museum is the East Bay's award-winning hands-on discovery museum for young children. Its mission is to nurture and enrich the lives of young children, their families, and the adults who care for them by providing an environment for early childhood learning and exploration, parenting education and community outreach. Habitot ensures its accessibility for all Bay Area families through its Family Outreach Program that brings more than 10,000 low-income and at-risk children into the museum every year through scholarships, subsidized memberships and free admissions days.

More than 600,000 people have enjoyed the museum's interactive exhibits, art programs and classes since its opening in 1998. Not just a place to entertain young children, Habitot provides resources and support for early childhood learning, parenting success, and community connection.
