(Berkeley, CA) June 24, 2010 –
Families can learn about keeping their homes free of toxins at Habitot Children’s Museum on Thursday, June 24 from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm as part of the Museum's 10th annual Early Childhood Safety Campaign. Staff from the Berkeley Public Health Department will advise parents on identifying and removing toxins from the home, as well as test the lead content of household items like lunchboxes and pottery. FREE admission is provided by State Farm Insurance Companies.

More free safety workshops on water safety, car seat inspection and installation, poison control, and other topics will take place on dates from June to September.

According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, preventable accidents are the #1 cause of injuries and loss of life in 0-6 year old children. Habitot's Campaign is aimed at increasing parents' and caregivers' knowledge and training for preventing accidents and injuries. State Farm Insurance Companies is the generous sponsor of Habitot's Early Childhood Safety Campaign.
