(Berkeley, CA) July 14, 2010 –
Celebrate France’s Independence Day at Habitot Children’s Museum’s annual Bastille Day event! French-themed activities will take place from 9:30 am- 12:30 pm. Children and families can make and decorate their own French berets using recycled paper bags and fun fabrics. Kids can put on a chef’s hat, read from a French menu, and "purchase" croissants, cheese, and baguettes from Habitot’s French Café. Children can compete in a boat race down the Siene River in the Waterworks area. Real French bread and cheese will be available for sampling at 12:00 pm. Storytelling in French and English will be from 10:00 am - 11:00 am. This event is free with regular Museum admission ($8.50 per person).

About Habitot:

Habitot Children's Museum is the East Bay's award-winning hands-on discovery museum for young children. Its mission is to nurture and enrich the lives of young children, their families, and the adults who care for them by providing an environment for early childhood learning and exploration, parenting education and community outreach. Habitot ensures its accessibility for all Bay Area families through its Family Outreach Program that brings more than 10,000 low-income and at-risk children into the museum every year through scholarships, subsidized memberships and free admissions days.

More than 600,000 people have enjoyed the museum's interactive exhibits, art programs and classes since its opening in 1998. Not just a place to entertain young children, Habitot provides resources and support for early childhood learning, parenting success, and community connection.
