(Berkeley, CA) July 30, 2010 –
The Bay Area Red Cross will present water safety tips to parents and caregivers at Habitot Children’s Museum on Friday, July 30 from 10:00 am-12:00 pm as part of Habitot's 10th annual Early Childhood Safety Campaign. The peak age for swimming pool deaths is 2 years old, and toddlers drowning in bathtubs account for 40% of drowning incidents, so safety tips will include practical ways to keep kids safe around swimming pools, baby pools, water buckets, and bathtubs. FREE admission is provided by State Farm Insurance Companies.

More free safety workshops on helmet use, car seat inspection and installation, poison control, and other topics will take place June through September.

According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, preventable accidents are the #1 cause of injuries and loss of life in 0-6 year old children. Habitot's Campaign is aimed at increasing parents' and caregivers' knowledge and training for preventing accidents and injuries. State Farm Insurance Companies is the generous sponsor of Habitot's Early Childhood Safety Campaign.
