On-going Facilitated Meetings

Mamas & Papas for LGBTQ Families

This drop-in support group for gay and lesbian families meets in Habitot's classroom annex the first Wednesday of every month from 5:30 pm–7:30 pm, September through June.

Supervised childcare is available for 2-5 year olds in Habitot's main museum. Pizza dinner is provided for children.

Adult participants share concerns about foster care placements and adoption, second-parent adoption, and issues of race and gender, among many other topics. The facilitated groups also provide a forum for information about early childhood development and parenting issues.

Mamas & Papas is presented in partnership with Our Family Coalition. The suggested donation is $10 per adult, but no one is turned away for lack of funds.

Caregiver Cafés

Caregivers are invited to meet and share experiences about the fun and challenges of caring for the children of others on the second Tuesday of the month from 10:00 am–11:00 am in Habitot's classroom annex. (Caregiver Cafes do not take place during the summer months).

During facilitated sessions (Spanish translation available), children will be occupied with art and craft activities nearby led by Habitot staff. Coffee and pastries are provided. The suggested donation is $10 per adult, but no one is turned away for lack of funds.

Interested in Starting a New Group?

For a nominal fee, Habitot's classroom annex is available for one-time or on-going parent support groups, meeting any afternoon or evening, or on Tuesday mornings, from fall through spring.

Experienced parent educators are available through Habitot's speakers bureau to lead discussions on topics of need/interest. Our Parenting Education staff can help you design a support program suited to your needs.
