Access for a Wide Audience

FREE and Subsidized Services

Low-income families may be eligible for a limited number of scholarships for annual memberships. These are funded by grants from private foundations and individual donations. In addition, Habitot has placed permanent free admission passes in selected libraries and agencies throughout the East Bay which patrons/clients may check out for FREE. FREE Admission Days and Discounted Group Visits also provide access for low-income families.

Scholarships

Families may qualify for an annual TRIO Family Plus membership at no or reduced cost, depending on circumstances. These memberships provide FREE admission for the household for one year from the date of award.

An application form is available at the Front Desk. Qualifying documents include SSI forms, WIC, Food Stamps, income tax statements, enrollment in Head Start schools, homeless shelter residence, teen parent status and hospital/pediatrician/therapist/court referrals. Application Form (PDF)

FREE & Discounted Admission Group Visits

Head State and state-supported preschools, social service agencies, hospital based programs and many others may be eligible for free admission. Depending on grant support, reimbursement for transportation may be available. FREE admission groups receive return visit passes for the families of each child. Discount group visits

Library and Organizational Passes

Several dozen libraries in low-income communities and an equal number of social service agencies/nonprofits hold Library or Organizational Passes for use by individual families.

Check out passes at these locations. Library patrons or clients of these organizations may check out passes for one week. Please note: passes do not provide FREE admission for birthday parties or group visits.
