While parents engage in lively and supportive conversations facilitated by Habitot and Our Family staff in our classroom annex (Habitot, Too), children play (with supervision) in the Museum.

WaterWorks Splash Returns!
FREE Admission!
9:30 am–4:30 pm
A water pumping station, a river ramp and a water table offer endless possibilities for letting children discover nature's most interesting liquid. Buckets, funnels, waterwheels, pitchers and other toys encourage hand-to-eye coordination and problem solving.

Maker Saturdays: Boat Building
2:00 pm–4:30 pm
"Making" has become one of the fastest growing school and afterschool activities, and museums everywhere are getting on board. Habitot offered a "Young Makers" summer camp this year and now plans a series of maker events in our Art Studio beginning on Saturday August 29, from 2-4:30. On this day, we'll be making cardboard boats and rafts to try out in our new WaterWorks exhibit. Look ahead for more Maker Saturdays in September.

Caregivers are invited to meet and share experiences about the fun and challenges of caring for the children of others one morning a month (TBA) in Habitot's classroom annex.

FREE Car Seat Inspection

Trained technicians will install and/or inspect your car seat. Offered with support from retired police officer, Bob Rollins, and the City of Alameda Police Department. Did you know that 90% are installed incorrectly and children are at risk? Participants will receive a guest pass for Habitot admission.

Hip Stix
10:30 am–11:15 pm
FREE in the museum! Hip Stix gets your tots and preschoolers hippin' and hoppin' by introducing basic rhythm, funky free movement, and original kid friendly raps and chants. Using rhythm sticks, your tyke will explore preschool basics such as the alphabet, shapes, colors, and numbers through the language we all can understand, music! Hip Stix creator, Alicia Langlais-Himelstein, is an experienced pilates and dance fitness instructor, and has over 12 years of training in ballet and modern, and 5 years of folkloric and hip-hop dance.
