Dia de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, is a traditional Mexican holiday that honors and celebrates the spirits of deceased loved ones. Come celebrate by decorating sugar skulls and making paper flowers.

Rainbow Family Night Wednesday
5:30-7:30pm

LGBTQ+ families are invited to join our facilitated group to connect. Rainbow Family Nights are presented in partnership with Our Family Coalition.

Diwali: Festival of Lights
9:30am-4:30pm

Diwali ("festival of lights") is the biggest and the brightest festival in India, symbolizing the triumph of good over evil and light over darkness. Huge firework displays and houses decorated with bright lights will be reflected in activities in Habitot's Art Studio. Try your hand at creating a colorful rangoli pattern or decorating a candle holder. Indian treats to share too!.

Food and drink is generously provided by Roti Indian Bistro

Create unique circuit art with conductive paint and explore which designs will light up LEDs

Encourage the do-it-yourself mindset and come build, invent, design and create something! Projects are designed for 4-7 year olds, younger children with adult assistance. Supports STEM learning.

"Let's Go Vote!" Day
9:30am-12:00pm

This Election Day, enjoy FREE admission and visit our tot-sized voting booth where kids can stamp their vote for cutest insect! In the art studio, you'll find an enormous three-foot sculptural cake for kids to douse in red, white, and blue paint, glue, sparkles and confetti. Caregiver Cafe (Cafe para las niñeras)
10:00-11:00am

Caregivers are invited to meet and share experiences about the fun and challenges of caring for the children of others while gaining new skills in this monthly supportive group, facilitated in Spanish.

Parents' Night Out

Date night for parents! Supervised museum play and exploration ~ with cheese pizza dinner Included ~ for your kids, 2-7 years old while you enjoy an evening out. $39 per child, $29 siblings. Parents' Night Out events take place every 4th Friday, except in November and December when they are offered on the 3rd Friday. Advance registration required.

Decorate your very own gingerbread house to take home! After your tot has placed every last gumdrop, candy cane, and sprinkle, head to the museum to continue the fun. Cost is $35 per gingerbread house for non-members (includes museum admission for one child and one adult); $25 per gingerbread house for members; FREE to Grandparent Circle Members. Gingerbread House Making Party!
9:30 am–4:30 pm

Decorate a GIANT gingerbread house with oodles of goodies including candies, cookies and sprinkles. After the event, the completed house will be donated to local family shelter for the holidays. Bring a bag of decorating candy to share (no nut products please) and receive a FREE adult admission pass to use on your next visit, limit one pass per group.

Note: There will not be a separate "Family Maker Saturday" activity from 2:30-4:30pm today.

New Year's Eve Celebration
Kick-Off to Confetti Arts Week

Scoop up confetti to make glorious collage artwork and toss it in the air to watch it swirl in the wind tunnel. Plus, every child will get to take home a free noisemaker.
