In 2010, Habitot collaborated with the local Kenyan arts and culture group, Jiji la Watoto, to launch a fundraising drive to design and build an interactive exhibit replicating an authentic African village. $4,000 was raised at the event featuring delicious East African food, a performance of African dancing, an African-inspired fashion show, a silent auction of African art and artifacts, and lots of activities for children including face-painting, games and crafts. We are still raising the remainder of funds needed to install the exhibit.
Opening Doors
In 2005 and 2006, Habitot hosted a free luncheon for 250 business and civic leaders to raise funds for the Museum. Both resulted in significant long term pledge gifts which helped sustain Habitot through the economic downturn beginning in 2007. Each event raised over $100,000.
'Take a Seat' for Habitot
Take a Seat for Habitot 2003 was the first-ever Ethan Allen “Chairs That Care” event in the Bay Area. Since its inception in 1999, the “Chairs That Care” program has raised more than $350,000 for children’s charities in cities across the country. Our celebrity chair auction, 'Take a Seat' for Habitot 2004, was a huge success! Each event raised over $25,000.
