Diwali: Festival of Lights Free Admission Day at Habitot Childrenís Museum
(Berkeley, CA) November 02, 2015
On November 15th, from 9:30-4:30pm, in celebration of Diwali: Festival of the Lights, Habitot Childrenís Museum is offering free admission to the public thanks to a generous sponsorship from Mechanics Bank. Diwali ("festival of lights") is a festival originally from India, symbolizing the triumph of good over evil and light over darkness, shown with huge firework displays and decorated houses with bright lights.
Habitot's art studio will feature Diwali-themed craft activities the entire week, from November 9th until the free admission day on the 15th, during Habitot's regular autumn hours (Mon-Thur 9:30-12:30, Fri-Sun 9:30-4:30). Visitors may look forward to experiencing the Diwali custom of adorning houses with colourful rangoli (floor patterns created with coloured rice or powder), making pretend fire crackers and candles, and painting elephants. The museum will be brightly decorated all week with Diwali decor.
Habitot believes that learning through play is the best way to let young children discover the world around them. Learn more about the Diwali: Festival of Lights celebration at Habitot by visiting www.habitot.org.
