Habitotís Annual Early Childhood Safety Campaign:
Free Car Seat Inspections
(Berkeley, CA) October 2, 2017
As part of Habitot Children’s Museum 17th Annual Safety Campaign, sponsored by State Farm Insurance, the museum is offering this free child car seat inspection in collaboration with SafeKids Alameda County, on Saturday, October 7th at UC Village, 1125 Jackson Street, Albany, CA 94706. From 10am-11am UC Village residents will be given priority for inspections and should register with Anna Bowen, UCB community advisor: email@example.com From 11am-12pm, car seat inspections are open to the public on a first come, first serve basis.
Trained technicians will install a new, or inspect caregivers’ existing car seats, for correct placement and safety. Participants will receive a Free Family Guest Pass for Habitot admission. For more info visit Habitot.org.
The car seat inspections are offered with the support of the Alameda Police Department, retired police officer, Bob Rollins, local technicians from SafeKids California, and State Farm Insurance.
In a recent survey completed by State Farm Insurance, revealing data shows some alarming statistics (see full safety survey results here):
Less than half of parents (44 percent) surveyed kept their child rear-facing until two years of age or longer.
Only 23 percent of parents had a certified Child Passenger Safety Technician check their car seat installation and usage.
Two-thirds of parents (68 percent) did not anchor the top tether of the forward-facing car seat to the back of the vehicle seat.
Habitot’s Early Childhood Safety Campaign aims to put an end to these dangers that directly impact young children.
