Gak Making Workshop

Friday, May 18th

Starting at 3:00 PM


Art Studio: Have you been meaning to make Gak with your child? Come do the messy part with Habitot! At the end of the workshop every participant will take home the Gak recipe and a bag of Gak.

Ages: This activity is aimed at your Habitot goer, but might be a great activity to do with a big sib!

Cost: $20 for non-members - includes admission to the Museum for 1 child and 1 adult. $15 for members.

FREE Car Seat Inspection Event

Saturday, June 2

Location:Alameda Police Department,1555 Oak St, Alameda

With the help of the Alameda Police Department and trained, volunteer technicians, you can have your new car seat properly installed or your existing car seat inspected for recall, proper placement or functioning. Many thanks to retired police officer, Bob Rollins, for his many years of support.

All participants will receive a FREE Habitot Family Pass for admission.

Art Studio: LGBTQ parents are invited to join our facilitated support group to connect, share experiences, swap tips, and discuss issues relevant to our families, while kids have a great time playing in the Habitot Children's Museum.

Rainbow Arts Week

June 18 - 23

Rainbow Art

Art Studio:Celebrate diversity and all kinds of families by creating art using all the colors of the rainbow.

Monday - Rainbow Pasta - Practice those fine motor skills by making necklaces and bracelets, or make a pasta collage.

Tuesday - Rainbow Stained Glass Collage - Make a colorful tissue collage on transparent paper and frame it with a paper frame.

Wednesday - Rainbow Ice Chalk - Create a picture with frozen colors that slowly and happily combine.

Thursday - Collaborative Rainbow Collage - Let’s celebrate the beauty of diversity together with a collaborative art project.

Friday - Transforming Butterflies - Let’s celebrate Trans Education Day by making paper butterflies.

Saturday - Unicorn Poop - Play with some unicorn poop (okay, okay, it’s actually just rainbow slime).

Museum:Additional LGBT education materials throughout Rainbow Arts Week. We’re also adding new information to the Purple Parenting Cart. Come check it out!

Foster Family Fun Day

Foster Family Fun Day width=

Museum: Join us for a free afternoon of play and bonding with other foster, kinship and adoptive families! Explore our fun hands-on exhibits, create masterpieces in our art studio, and enjoy special time as a family, and as a community!

Ages: This event is meant for families with foster, kinship and/or adoptive children ages 0-5, but everyone in the family is welcome to come play.

Cost: FREE. Snacks, free return visit pass, and a book for each child included!

Pizza Fridays

11:30am - 12:30


Museum: Skip making lunch, and use that time to play! Deliveries every 15 minutes. Proceeds benefit the Museum.

Cost: $1 kid slices.
