Homemade Bubble Solution
Materials
- 2 cups warm water
- ⅓ cup white sugar (alternatives: 3 tbsp honey, 3 tbsp corn syrup, or 1½ tsp glycerin)
- ¾ cup dish soap (like Dawn)
- Spoon for mixing, or bubble wand (see ideas below)
- Medium-size bowl
- Mason jars for storage
Measure 2 cups of warm water into a mixing bowl and add ⅓ cup sugar. Slowly stir until the sugar is completely dissolved. Add in ¾ cup dish soap and stir the solution. Don’t stir too vigorously – you don’t want bubbles to form while you stir. Test out the solution. If bubbles aren’t forming, add another tsp of soap. If it’s too thin and watery, add a tsp of sugar. Leaving the solution for a few hours or overnight will make a stronger bubble solution.
Homemade Bubble Wands
- Craft wands by twisting pipe cleaners, or even old wire hangers. Cover sharp ends with masking tape or electrical tape.
- Use a strawberry basket. You may need to pour bubble solution into a shallow bowl or bucket first.
- Blow big bubbles by using a toilet paper roll or a paper towel roll.
