Your Gifts Help Us Reach East Bay Kids Where They Live

• We aim make our programs affordable and as broadly accessible as possible, but that means we will never completely cover all the operational costs from fees or grants alone. Community support from families like yours is necessary.

• While grants and fees contribute, they are an unpredictable source of revenue, and they rarely cover existential costs like insurance, storage facility fees, website hosting, communication platforms, and most importantly, the core staff that keeps Habitot going, day in and day out.

• These essential staff are needed to search for and reserve sites for mobile events, hire and train staff to present activities to your children, create curriculum and purchase materials for BoxiTot kits, create social media posts and biweekly e-newsletters with tips and activities for parents, and much, much more behind the scenes.

• Your tax-deductible gift helps keep Habitot going while staff leadership and board members donate many volunteer hours negotiating for a new permanent museum home.

Giving any amount, large or small, on a monthly basis, gives Habitot reliable, year-round revenue, that underpins all our programs.

  • Make a one-time gift, or start a recurring monthly donation of any amount that fits your budget. Recurring gifts give the gift of predictable income which is so important for an organization also relying on grants.

  • Donate a car to help fund Habitot. Car Donation Services will take care of all the details, including picking up your vehicle.
  • Check to see if your employer matches charitable donations to multiply your gift.
  • Start a Facebook fundraiser. We can help you with images and text if you need them. Let us know so we can support your campaign.

We promise to…

  • Dedicate 100% of your gift to expanding our services to our community during the pandemic and improving Habitot for reopening when the pandemic is over.
  • Send you a letter with our deepest thanks and a tax receipt. Donations to Habitot Children’s Museum are tax deductible under section 501(c)(3) of the Federal Tax Code. (Prospective donors may also request copies of the agency’s federal and state tax exemption letters).
  • Keep the tax-deduction of your gift at its maximum by not sending you goods or services that would reduce it unless you request otherwise.
  • Protect your privacy and keep your information confidential.

Annual giving

Every fall, Habitot conducts a year-end fundraising campaign that asks the community for charitable gifts to launch the following year’s programming. These gifts usually raise 25-50% of Habitot’s annual budget. Be a part of our success this year! The East Bay’s children and families will appreciate you.

• Mid-year to early fall: be on the lookout for our annual Impact Report

• Giving Tuesday: the Tuesday following Thanksgiving, after Black Friday and Cyber Monday, a day to give to nonprofits that make a difference in your community

• December: direct mail letter and social media campaign with links to Habitot’s safe and secure donation platform
